Summary:

As part of the BHMS second-year curriculum, OMAR HMC & RC, Ranjani, Jalna, organized a visit to the District & Session Court, Samarth Nagar, Jalna, on 05/03/2025. The objective of the visit was to understand the working of the court and the duties of judicial officers.

The visit helped students understand:

• The role of the court in dispensing justice.
• The role of prosecutors in handling cases.
• The process of court proceedings, including the roles of judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers.
• The coordination between the justice system, police, and medical professionals.

The visit included an in-depth study of the functioning of Civil and Criminal Courts at different levels and various types of cases. Eighty students from OMAR HMC & RC participated in the visit, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Syeda Massarrat Sultana (HOD, FMT Department) and four other faculty members.

The day began with a briefing by Advocate Mr. Javeed Shaikh, a practicing advocate at Session Court, Jalna. He guided the students and explained the jurisdiction of different courts. He also explained the court proceedings in detail and advised students to read Bare Acts and attend regular class lectures. The students visited different courtrooms and observed court proceedings. The visit concluded at 3:00 p.m.

Summary:

The Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department of OMAR HMC & RC successfully organized a visit to Sadar Bazar Police Station, Jalna, as part of the 2nd BHMS academic curriculum. API Anandsing Sable explained the daily functioning of the police station and various crime proceedings. He highlighted how the police, medical professionals, and the judicial system work together in day-to-day life. A total of 4 faculty members and 80 students participated in the visit.

Summary

Cultural activities provide opportunities for students to express themselves, build confidence, work in teams, and develop social skills essential for their overall development. Research by the National Center for Education Statistics shows that participation in cultural activities enhances students’ sense of engagement, attachment to their institution, and academic performance.

Keeping in view the importance of cultural activities, Omar HMC & RC, Ranjani, organized a two-day cultural event on 18th and 19th December 2024. The event featured various activities, including Fine Arts, Enacting, Poem Recitation, Gazals, Mushaira, One-Minute Show, Elocution, Mehindi Competition, and Poster Competition.

The event began with an official inauguration ceremony, setting an enthusiastic tone. Activities included Cooking Stalls, Game Stalls, Musical Chairs, Poster and Mehindi Competitions, Ghazals, Mushaira, Qawwali, Stand-Up Comedy, Drama, Fish Pond, and Refreshments. Students participated enthusiastically, making the event memorable.

The cultural event was a vibrant celebration of creativity and entertainment, fostering camaraderie among students and staff. The college was beautifully decorated with props and banners, creating a lively atmosphere.

Event Highlights

• Students visited the Pharmacy Department and OPDs of JSPS Govt. HMC.
• Explored the Pharmacy Garden, studying medicinal plants and their uses.
• Visited the Pharmacognosy Laboratory, learning about drug manufacturing and quality testing.
• Learned about morphological identification of plants and Hahnemannian potentization methods.
• Observed quality control processes, including HEPA filtration and separate air handling units.

Conclusion

The tour provided valuable insights into homoeopathic drug manufacturing, quality control, and pharmacognosy. Students had an interactive learning experience and gained practical knowledge.

As per the directions of the Government of India and NCH, World Cancer Day was observed on 4th February 2025 at JIIU’s OMAR Homoeopathic Medical & Research Centre, Ranjani, Jalna. This global initiative aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote equitable access to cancer care.

The event emphasized “Global Action for Universal Health Coverage,” reinforcing the importance of ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all.

Key Highlights

• Dr. Sangmitra Kedare, Associate Professor, POM Department, delivered an insightful session on cancer prevention and risk factors. She explained how genetic mutations cause cancer and discussed key risk factors such as aging, smoking, UV exposure, unhealthy diet, alcohol consumption, infections, air pollution, lack of physical activity, and obesity.
• She also shared her personal experience of overcoming cancer, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
• The event was coordinated by Dr. Sangmitra Kedare, along with student coordinators Mr. Sohel and Miss Zohrabee, BHMS 2nd Year.
