As per the directions of the Government of India and NCH, World Cancer Day was observed on 4th February 2025 at JIIU’s OMAR Homoeopathic Medical & Research Centre, Ranjani, Jalna. This global initiative aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote equitable access to cancer care.

The event emphasized “Global Action for Universal Health Coverage,” reinforcing the importance of ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all.

Key Highlights

  • Dr. Sangmitra Kedare, Associate Professor, POM Department, delivered an insightful session on cancer prevention and risk factors. She explained how genetic mutations cause cancer and discussed key risk factors such as aging, smoking, UV exposure, unhealthy diet, alcohol consumption, infections, air pollution, lack of physical activity, and obesity.
  • She also shared her personal experience of overcoming cancer, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
  • The event was coordinated by Dr. Sangmitra Kedare, along with student coordinators Mr. Sohel and Miss Zohrabee, BHMS 2nd Year.
